Cuts & Grazes
Wash the wound thoroughly with water and a little soap.
Press on the wound, for example using a clean handkerchief
or tissue. Bleeding can usually be stopped by firm
pressure for about five minutes. Now apply a clean, dry
dressing such as a sticking plaster
When to see the doctor...
If the wound is dirty and you have not had a tetanus
injection for the last ten years you may need a tetanus
booster. Contact your doctor or the local casualty
department for advice. If the cut is deep and the edges
cannot be pulled together you may need stitches or a
steristrip dressing. Contact your doctor or the local
casualty department.
